Our Mission

IGR teams are founded on principles of inclusion. We believe that our rugby community is truly global and that the respect of the game and its players transcends all other barriers. These tours show that our rugby community builds bridges that transcend divisions of nationality and class. Further, they show IGR teams leading US Rugby outreach in emerging rugby nations in the Americas, continually challenging stereotypes and helping other American nations popularize the sport.

Past Tours

Since 2015, the San Francisco Fog has traveled annually to emerging rugby nations in the Americas, and we welcome all of our IGR friends to tour together as a combined IGR team. The games culminate four days of camaraderie, adventure, cross-cultural explorations and fun!

14 November 2017: Combined with IGR teammates, the Fog played the Medellin Fenix in Medellin, Colombia, a country where the fast and light style of rugby is quickly gaining popularity.

9 December 2018: Jonathan Castellari, a founding member of the Ciervos Pampas RFC, a new IGR team, was brutally gay-bashed by seven assailants in December 2017. His injuries left him hospitalized for two weeks. The Fog traveled to Buenos Aries, Argentina to compete in a tournament called “Tackling Homophobia.” Attended by teams both gay-identified and traditional, the tournament sought to eradicate homophobia in our sport and show that violence against members of our rugby family will never be tolerated.
